Any moms here give birth using only nitrous oxide for a pain reliever????

I’m not sure I want to get the epidural bc I’m constantly hearing people say it causes back pain for years later so I’ve been learning about other methods of pain relief during labor, what was your guys’s experience w the nitrous oxide gas ?? How was the relief and any side effects?

One of my best friends used NO and said it did nothing and ended up getting a epidural. I got a epidural and it was the best thing ever. I think a lot of people blame their back pain on the epidural but really it’s just from being pregnant...that puts a lot of strain on your back.

Definitely take classes and look into hypnobirthing if you’re planning to go without the epidural. Don’t just wing it.
The nitrous isn’t really going to ever compare to an epidural, you won’t get much, if any, pain relief. It more takes the edge off so you don’t care as much about the pain. Side effects are nausea, dizziness, just overall not feeling good, etc but go away quickly once you stop using it.

I didn’t have any passing relief. I firmly believe that if you go into it with the right mindset and a good partner, you can do it.
That being said, I don’t judge women who choose to get relief. The end hand is the baby is out and healthy. How that happens is whatever.

A baby in general will cause back pain, it’s not necessarily the epidural every time, it’s a combination of things and what our bodies go through, oh the joys of making babies! Yes there are accidents that can happen, but so many women are giving birth with no issues. Don’t expect to feel great after giving birth or even for weeks after, that’s all part of the healing process. I had back pain for a few months after, not necessarily the epidural but birth in general. You will know what you want when the time comes. Your body will tell you.

I used it and it was great. I did the pool and NO to get through most of my 60hr labor. I only switched to epidural because at 9cm they wanted to give me pitocin and we were heading towards needing c section
