Got my BFP ...when do people inform their work?

Question

When is it best to inform your manager of your news? Just so they are prepared if i was unwell or needed appointments? I think I informed my manager of it straight away with my dd but I was very close with my last boss she was lovely. This place I have only been here 6 months. Thanks x

I would wait. No need to tell them right away, even if you’re unwell. Do it when you’re comfortable, not because you think you owe it to them.

As late as possible unless there is a real probably I would say, especially if you’re still quite new. Where I live it’s 15 weeks before the due date and most people tell work then or a little while before. Find out what your local laws are and let them know by the time you need to. There is no need for them to know early on and sadly telling them could put you at risk of discrimination. You’re best to judge it but don’t feel obliged to tell them earlier than you have to. You might not get very sick and if you do, you don’t have to explain that you’re pregnant :) x

I was at my job for three months before I got pregnant. I told my boss right away  by no choice. My doctor's office was an hour away and I needed to make sure I was able to get the time off to leave work early for appointments. I'm a bank teller and our schedules varied from week to week. If I had the option to wait I would have.

Wait as long as possible. I told my work when I was 11 weeks and they fired me two weeks later.

I did at 5wks with my dd... only because I was so sick all the time (had 24/7 morning sickness). I wanted to wait until I was 12wks.
