Is it ok for a woman to ask a man to marry her?

I have been with my man for over a year and I know he's the one but I don't want to scare him by proposing. Any advice?? Please....

Have you tried to talk to him about marriage in general? Maybe try that first.

I don't think its a good idea because the man maybe is not ready and usually he's the one who is more responsible for things

I, personally, would never marry a man if I had to ask him to marry me. I feel like if a man doesn't ask you to marry him it's probably because he doesn't want you to marry him (at least not right then).

I did!  We have been happily married for 4 years.  He was the type that would have drug his feet and we were not young, and I really did not want to have baby before marriage.  So I said marry me.

You can ask a man. Most people think only women can have romantic things. Men probably feel left out. Girls never do romantic things for them, let alone something like that!

A year really isn't that long. I have been with my SO 3.5 years and still am finding out new things about him. We just married in March (our 3 year anniversary). He proposed a little after our 2 year mark. If you both have spoken about marriage and expressed a want to commit to it, then I see no problem. However, I will say I dated a guy for 4 years, promise rings, marriage talks, family talks...we didn't make it and I'm so much happier now than I thought I was when I thought he was the one I wanted to spend my life with. Don't rush him, I feel like if he wants to marry you he will propose when he is ready. I'm not sure if your SO is the manly type, but if you propose, being a woman, he may feel emasculated and that can carry on into the relationship thinking you wear the pants, make the decisions, are the bread winner and he could become dependent on you to provide for the both of you. Not saying it will happen, but it's always a possibility.

I put Maybe because it depends on the relationship, if your man would be totally cool with it then I say go for it :) but my SO told me that he wants to be the one to propose
