Take a break? Or no?

My boyfriend and I have been together for a year and a half, and it has been long distance for a couple months at a time (he's in the circus). So now, I'm away at college, and he's at circus school in Canada. We've been struggling a little bit for that past 2 months with communication. He was just home for a couple of days, but now he wants to take a break to "find himself", and so he doesn't hurt me anymore for not being able to be physically with me or giving me the attention he thinks I deserve. He says that it would kill him to hurt me like that. But I really don't want to take a break. I love him, and he says he loves me so much that that's why he doesn't want to hurt me. But do you think taking a break is a good idea? Or should we stay together because we love eachother?

Not saying that this is the case with you, but when guys say this, its code for "there's someone else I'm interested in and I just don't want to hurt your feelings by telling you the truth".  In all likelihood, he's probably already dating her and just wants to string you along while he tests the waters with this new girl.

If he brought up taking a break over telling u how much ue loves and misses you. Then i feel there is some other reason why he wants this break. Instead of coming up with that idea. He could have been thinking of a day yall two could have taken to get away together. In my mind i feel he is taking the easier road cause he has found someone else

My ex pulled the "I think we should take a break" crap. Like an idiot, I agreed, and at the end of our 1 month "break", he left me for another girl (I say girl cause she was 16 and he was 22). It was heartbreaking and humiliating but I got through it. My advice is this: either you are together or you are broken up, those are the only two options. Taking a break is not an option.

I was with SO for a year when he went to army for three months. Before he left he had told me "will u be okay with it? If u can't stand it tell me now, not when I will be away". I was like no! so we tried reeaaally hard talked everyday made our schedules. We talked a lot and when  he had some days off, we didn't lose time,  we organised our vacation! And when it was finally over we made the best trip ever! Cause we wanted to be together! There are no breaks in one year and a half! In such a long time u know if u want someone or not, if it is worth fighting for your relationship or not. If the answer is no it's not a break,  it's a break up.

I love it when guys say 'I don't want to hurt you, so let's take a break'. Really? As if that doesn't hurt me??? Dumb butts. It's a cop out. Sorry. And if he wants a break there's really nothing you can do about it. It's like when someone dumps you, you can't really say 'nah, we're good. You're still dating me'. Take a break, but let him know you aren't waiting around forever. He needs to figure out in a predetermined time frame if he wants to be with you or if you should move on.

Being in a long distance relationship for over 4 years then it ending I would recommend the break. It will help you determine if yippy are really committed to the relationship as well as him.
