So we welcomed our baby yesterday morning and after he was stuck in the birth canal we opted for an emergency c section.. during delivery he respirated some amniotic fluid and he’s spending time in the NICU. He is progressing well and should be released within the next 12 hours but they have formula supplemented him by NG tube just to ensure there’s no feeding concerns while he’s progressing.

I am SO committed to making BFing work with him, but yesterday I was only able to get one decent skin to skin session and two short breast feeding sessions with him in a 12 hour window due to my surgery and I’ve been hand expressing but have only gotten 0.4ml of colostrum they have given to him for us.

Advice?? Trying as much as possible to get my post surgery butt down to the NICU every 3 hours to make this happen, my poor hubby until I’m allowed to walk there on my own! He’s along for the newborn feeding ride
