Nursery Or No?

A topic came up between my fiance and I the other day, he doesnt want to have a nursery for the first 6 months, just wants the baby to sleep in the room. I said no immediately, I believe that having a nursery for the baby is a vital step in being pregnant, having the opportunity to set one up. We dont have enough space in our bedroom to do it, but he doesnt see it that way. What is everyones thoughts on this?

I think it's vital for your relationship that the baby has his or her own room. You may not have sex immediately after giving birth, but you also won't abstain from it for 6 months. And having your baby in the bedroom doesn't really set the mood..

Even if the baby doesn't sleep in the nursery, it's nice to have that space for all the things the baby will need, a place to change diapers easily, a place to take the baby to rock back to sleep while the other person is trying to rest in the middle of the night.

I plan to have our little one sleep in our room for the first month or two, then transition over to her own room. Our nursery is also our office right now, and will stay that way until we can move into a better apartment, but it’s nice to have the space for her stuff, and it makes me feel more settled/prepared just having the space set aside for her.

I don't think it's vital but the baby will need their own room or dedicated space for baby things. The sooner it's together, the sooner you don't have to worry about it.

I don't think having a nursery is vital for a newborn especially if you don't have the space right now. But I also plan to cosleep so that's just me but definitely retalk with your so and come to a decision together what you'll want to do.

Not be sleeping in there. The baby will have lots of clothing and things that will need a place of its own.
