We had a chemical a couple of weeks ago at 5 weeks. The day I started bleeding I had a blood test and my hcg was down to 8. 5 days later I took a pregnancy test and got what looked like a faint positive / indent. 2 days after that, I had another blood test confirming my hcg was under 5 and since the bleeding had stopped we got the green light to start trying again.  
Did you have a blood test after your chemical to check your levels? That is really the only way to know. The reason my doctor got me to repeat the blood test was to make sure there was nothing left after I stopped bleeding as it would have been an issue had I stopped bleeding but my hcg was still going up.
