Has anyone taken castor oil to induce labor?

Had a patient a couple weeks ago admit to me that she took it. 37w  pregnant. Her baby looked so bad on the monitor we took her for an emergency c section and her baby is currently still in the NICU because it inhaled meconium. I’ve also seen babies die from it.

This isn’t even a necessary conversation to have. Some people will give you their personal stories that turned out okay. None of those stories should even be told as some women will take that as an okay for them to take it. DO NOT TAKE CASTOR OIL.

My sister took it. It gave her baaad diahorrea that squirted each time she had a contraction. The nursing staff told her that that was standard of it; and they completely advise against it.

I’m personally too scared to take it because I have found research saying it has no increased risks, but yet you hear these stories of babies dying or inhaling meconium so if there’s even a chance I don’t want to take it.
I’d rather choose a medical induction.
But I have seen YouTube moms take it recently and they had no issue. Britneyandbaby and elleandbabes. They took it at 39-40 weeks though.
