Home birth first pregnancy?

I’ve really loved the idea of having a home birth! It just seems so relaxing (as relaxing as it can be) and a lot more comforting. I’m wondering if anyone has ever had one for their first birth and if they recommend it?! I also love the idea of a water birth.

Had my first baby at home. Husband was the only one there. It was so wonderful. I didn't do it for that, I did it because of forced standard medical treatments for all newborns in our state and the parents not getting a choice, but having to live with a child potentially dying from the treatment or having lifelong health issues. It was the best decision. 
I did the research of course and stayed extremely calm, and my husband and I prayed every single day. We're Catholic, so it's part of our lives anyway, but I have never trusted God more than during labor. It was so different, but amazing and my husband was just so calm and handled it really well. He was also the only person I wanted with me anyway the whole time. It seemed daunting to me at first, but I knew a hospital birth wasn't the way to go from some experiences I had while pregnant and all of the research I had done. I originally thought I would have a hospital birth, but as things progressed I couldn't forsee how that would have been a good idea for us.
I had prepared a bunch of stuff in the event certain circumstances arose, but they never did. Being calm and eating healthy during the pregnancy is important. I want to add in I craved celery and ate so much of it while pregnant. It actually has so many benefits. I also drank nettle tea, alfalfa, RRL, pregnancy tea, etc. I did my best to eat right and nourish my body and baby. It seems daunting because you haven't done it yet, but really just stay calm. As calm as you can during labor.

I’ve had all 3 babies and home and am planning for the 4th to be at home as well. I’m a doula, and I can honestly say there is nothing like a home birth. Being in the comfort of your own home for labour and birth, and then crawling into bed with baby right after is everything. I’ve read “Ina May’s Guide to Child Birth” probably 5x. It is so good, and really helps prepare you. When we were pregnant with our first my hubby and I did the Bradley Method course, and it really set us up for an amazing labour. Hubs was basically trained to be my doula. I’ve always felt really prepared going into all 3 births, and I think that made a huge difference. All amazing water births, all with an awesome midwife who I really connected with, and all with healthy babies. ❤️

I had my first baby at home! It was so nice being able to stay home and not worry about going anywhere. I had a 30 hour labour. The baby went on the wrong side the week before I went into labor so that is one reason it was at hard and because if that the midwife had to push my cervix out of the way. My Midwife was so amazing! I was so thankful to have her. I just didn't want to go to the hospital unless it was an emergency so I stayed focused and remind myself I could do it! My husband was there helping me! It was so encouraging! My baby came out with the cord rapped around twice and just took such good care of me and my baby. I was trying to have a water birth but I couldn't push hard enough so I had him standing up. The water was awesome though to sit in and help with contractions! The one thing I really recommend is make sureing that your midwife has experience with hard situations so you know you can trust her if something comes up. Ask their transportation rate to the hospital. My Midwife only ever really had to take a first time mother to a hospital was because the mother was so tired and didn't want to do it anymore. So if you want a home birth you have to be dedicated and push yourself and you can do it! God made our body to have children! In saying all that I just want you to have a knowledgeable Midwife who will direct you in whatever situation arise. My sister picked a midwife that didn't have has much experience and my sister wanted to have her baby while our mom was visiting out of state so she said she could take castor oil. (This is a week before her due date.) She ended up going to a hospital and getting a C-section because the baby wasn't ready and the Midwife wasn't quit ready for this kind of situation. (My sister and I both have hard births) I talked to my midwifes and they said it is not a good idea to try to make the baby come, because it does cause problems. Unless your really late then the midwifes know how to do it. I don't want any of that to scare you I just want to inform you and so you can find a midwife who is really knowledgeable. I am expecting my second and planning another home birth! I'm so excited. I'm 10 weeks.

I've planned a homebirth for my first. I've been doing a hypnobirth course and  I'd highly recommend it.

I had my first child at home. I knew my labor would be quick, and it was an hour from water breaking to baby in arms. I'm planning one with the same midwife for my second pregnancy. I agree that it was more relaxing in that you have everything you need. I see so many posts about what to pack in your hospital bag and when to start packing it and I'm so glad I don't have to worry about that on top of everything else.
