Did you have an undisturbed first hour when your child was born?

So my fiance and I have decided to TTC. But before we really got into it we were just discussing some things birth plan wise and such. I REALLY want a completely undisturbed 1st hour. The second my child is born I want them placed on my chest. Any tests that can be done while the baby is on my chest, any other I want to wait... I also want to wait on clamping the cord for as long as possible... My fiance looked at me like I was crazy when I explained I wanted all this as long as everything was safe and healthy... Just wondering if any other women had chosen these things during labor!

I wish I did .... my stupid MIL was there the whole time uninvited she also felt the right to bring in her husband and daughter to the room right away after my baby was placed on my chest like wtf I never said I wanted any visitors 😒 i'm pregnant once again and this time I will make sure things are different, I only want my husband and I to be there unfortunately they won't let my 4 month old come into the delivery room .

My boyfriend and I talked about doing the same thing. I don't mind them doing the tests first but then I want an hour or skin to skin time just the 2 of us and the baby with no family or anyone coming in or anything.

At my hospital, at least with the second delivery, m don was placed on me directly after delivery then they had in room checking, bathing, measuring. Stayed in there for at least an hour before I was taken to my room and he stayed with us until it was time for other testing. No one came to visit until we told them they could.

Unless baby is taken for medical stuff, it'd be hard not to be alone for atleast an hour. I didn't even deliver my placenta until about 45 minutes after delivery! And that's pretty normal. I mean, i guess my family could've came in but my legs were still up and i was practically naked and bleeding. Lol both hospitals closest to me don't allow anyone in for 2 hours minimum.

My hospital only lets the husband/partner and the baby be with you for the first hour after the baby is born. After you give birth, they will take the baby away for a couple minutes to weigh and do apgar test but the baby is in your arms before you're done delivering placenta

When my son was born they took him to be weighed and did the apgar test right away which is best for the baby and they wiped him off and made sure he was okay because he was thought to be over due by a week but turned out he was born at 35 weeks. During this time they deliver the placenta and got my bleeding to slow down (I have a bleeding issue where I bleed too much too fast) and then they brought him to me and then they simply monitored me and him. Made sure my bleeding wasn't excessive and he was alert as normal. Then we went in a wheel chair up to the maternity ward and they waited a couple hours to do the eye goop stuff and to show me how to bathe him and the heel prick test and all that stuff.

Our birthing center automatically does this as long as baby is healthy and parents want to. They wait an hour or longer to do any tests,bathing and so on because they believe that the first couple hours are crucial for bonding and feeding. Baby will also be in our room the entire stay unless in destress.
