Anyone else contemplating moving back to hometown?

We live about 6 hours away from both sets of grandparents as well as my SIL and her family. The cost of living is also much more affordable in our hometown (not so much here in southern CA). I love where we live now, but knowing this baby is coming has me seriously contemplating this. Anyone else going through the same thing?

I think it is common to move back around your family when you start having kids😊 For me I’m glad there is distance between me and my family and my husbands family but I don’t think that’s normal😂

We moved back closer to home when our son was about 1 1/2 to be closer to family and be more involved. Yeah people still only occasionally come over. My son sees his grandparents about 1-2 times a week now though and that is very nice and If i have an appt.(currently preg. With #2) my dad comes and watches my son for me while husband works. So there are definitely positives about it.

With my first I was a single mom, so shortly after I found out I was expecting I ended up moving back to my dad’s house. It was the best thing ever because I had his help and now my 7 year old and him are inseparable. He actually moved in with my husband and I a year ago and having the help even being married has been so beneficial for my girls. And for us (built in babysitter for date nights).

We moved close to my mom 4 months ago so she could spend time with her grandkids and help out when we needed it. Surprise surprise she is a closet alcoholic so we are moving BACK to my husbands family. It’s only an hour and a half away but I just got done training in my new position at a new hospital. I’m just grateful that my old job is welcoming me back with open arms (and even a raise!) I say if it feels right to you just do it! Lots of stress can come with a new baby and you want to have the best support you can get.

No, but I went through the same thing with my son and it was the best thing we ever did. We also lived in southern California and I wanted to be closer to my parents. Sadly we’ve also moved away from some other family we miss terribly, but we moved from southern California to northern Arizona, found better paying jobs, a nicer community, better weather, and our cost of living is so much lower. We live comfortably, with the comfort of having my parents close by, and my son is very close to them. If I had to do all over again, I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
