How long should I stop having sex?

How long does it take for the vagina to heal from a tear? I went to the gynecologist in December cause every time my boyfriend would first put it in my vagina, it hurt and I would wipe after sex and there would be light blood. My gyno told me there was a small tear and to stop having sex for 3 weeks to a month but we never stopped. I know, I should’ve listened but I didn’t, so no rude comments plz 😂 we’ve used lube every time we have sex since then, but I still have some discomfort sometimes when he first puts it in, so I know the tear is still there. I really want to heal now but since I’ve been having sex, I’m not sure how long to wait now.
