How much does a baby shower cost?

We are having a co-ed baby shower and expecting around 40 people or so.

Depends what you do as far as food and decorations and games and if you’re renting a place, you can easily do a cost breakdown looking at costs and serving size per person that you’ll need to have.

I hosted one for my cousin. With invitations, food, decorations and stuff for games, I spent under $150. My husband grilled for us and I designed my own invitation (baseball themed).

I spent around $100-$150, but my family took care of most the big stuff. 
Grandma, mother in law, mom and aunt all made a different dish. Another aunt did some snack. My sister bought chips and salsa. My other sister made cupcakes. My other sister bought me the cake. My money was mostly spent on decorations, some random snacks and renting the tables and chairs.

Mine is at a restaurant in a private room and 35 people/$40pp. Its a 3 course meal however. They pay their own alcoholic drinks

It depends on location, food, games, decor, etc.  I did a “welcome baby” party when my first was born (I was on bed rest for months before that so no shower) and I just did it outside and grilled.  I spent less than $200 total and everyone loved it.  I skipped any decorations other than some fun torches to light as it got dark.  A few family members brought some salads and my dad bought beer for everyone.
