Every single comment on here is stupid. The amount of alcohol in breast milk after one drink and two hours is sooooo minuscule it has literally no effect on LO. Something like, .00038% alcohol at mother’s tipsiest, so two hours later it would be even less. What risk are people talking about here? Your child won’t melt.

My gf is a paediatrician and also a mom of two small boys one of which she still breastfeeds. She made a post the other day where they tested the blood alcohol in her breastmilk on 3 separate occasions where she drank 4 glasses of wine. The alcohol content was so low it was almost undetectable.

Many people say if you’re safe to drive, you’re safe to nurse. However the official AAP stance is to wait two hours after a drink.

If you can drive you can feed/pump. If your drink do not feed our pump and dump

Safe to drive means safe to feed 🙂 and if you do end up pumping and don’t feel safe feeding it to baby SAVE IT! Milk baths are awesome for baby’s skin and the alcohol content won’t affect them that way! I tell clients to just mark the bag so they know it’s not for baby to drink.

Well I think the newer suggestions are a drink or two should typically be okay and safe to breastfeed depending on how your body reacts to alcohol. For me personally, I wouldn’t even risk it. I don’t drink alcohol, but I don’t think I’d breastfeed my baby if I had a glass of wine. It’s just not something I’m personally okay with doing. Though I wouldn’t judge others for doing so.

I don’t see anything wrong with one drink while breastfeeding. I’m not sure if I will or not but I do enjoy an occasional glass of wine. So if I want to, then I will.
