Racist ex. Possible trigger.
Here goes:
I have a photo of my ex in blackface. It was posted on social media back when the only people who looked at your Facebook were your friends. I took a screenshot of it.
It happened before we met, he dressed as a “black guy” for Halloween. (*vomit*) The caption is a racist southern diddy: “I’m an Alabama n****r and I wanna be free” with the n word replaced with his name. I remember when we were dating, he and his redneck friends would refer to POCs as his name. Like, they’d say “Look at that Jacob over there” and I never understood why they did that until I saw the post on his Facebook from before we met. It was an inside joke to his blackface costume.
Anyway, to the point, I just found out he’s been accepted to police academy in my hometown. I know him very well, and giving this man a badge and a gun is terrifying to me. He was verbally and emotionally abusive as well, so it isn’t just about him being racist, and it isn’t about revenge either. I literally feel obligated to do what I can to keep one of the bad ones out of the uniform.
Should I send the screenshot to the chief of police? Do you think it would make a difference? If so, what should I say about it? Or should I mind my own business and let things be?
