Opinions on the owlet? Just curious I’m FTM. Wondering if it’s worth the money? Should I buy a used one from Facebook marketplace? Just spend the money? Not worth it...? What are your opinions on it?

I had got it for my first and it was a nice peace of mind. I will definitely be using it with this one too. 
A friend’s baby was asleep in a pack n play, turned over and I think his face got covered. He stopped breathing and the owlet went off. My friend swears it saved him. 😱

The peace of mind I had from ours with our first was worth every penny. We thought we didn’t need it and the morning after we had our first night home with her, we bought one bc I did NOT sleep AT ALL. I’d buy it all over again for the second baby if I had to.

My last baby had massive chocking and reflux problems that would cause her to stop breathing. It was silent chocking and we did not know she wasnt okay until we would see her body and arms jerking for air. I wish I could have afforded to buy this for her because for the first 9 months of her life it was very scary and at any given moment she would stop breathing and then purple. This is why for this baby I already have the owlet sitting and waiting for her. I never want to experience 9 months of total sleepless nights and fear that I wouldn’t wake up if she needed me. Due to my history with my last baby I think that for me there is no questions if this would be worth it or not. Even if it does have false alarm, I’d rather get a false alarm then find something worse in the crib 😥

My friend has the this and they swear by it. They used it for baby #1 and #2. Paired with the camera, it gave them the peace of mind that they needed. Needless to say, I have this on my registry! As a first time mom, I’ll purchase anything that will give me peace of mind that baby is sleeping okay at night. I think it’s worth the spend!

I asked at the hospital and the nursing staff said no. I don’t think I need it myself, but understand why others must have it. At that point it’s a personal choice. Nursing staff said it gave off too many false alarms during a time you already get very little sleep. So to each their own. If you think you need it, get it. If not, don’t.

Love ours. For me it’s more a peace of mind. I used it till my son was 15 months and his fat foot wouldn’t fit anymore lol. I got ours on eBay for 100 bucks less. Definitely worth looking into buying a cheap one. We only ever got false alarms when he was a few weeks old bc his foot was too small and it would move and when he was older bc it was too tight. I found it super helpful for ME to sleep when we moved him into his own room and it worked prefect then.

I have a friend who lost a baby from SIDS. She ended up having another child and swears by it. I am deff going to get one. I also read on their website that you can do payment plans if money is a concern bc they are expensive. But i think totally worth it!

Personally, I just used a regular monitor & just went in to check on baby to ease my mind/make sure she was still breathing :). I did see on here one time that a mom lost her baby to SIDS and that she would absolutely get the Owlet because of that. I’ll be doing the same thing with baby #2 that I did with my first, but I can see how some moms are eased by this device!
