(Read description first, please!) When should I go in for the viability ultrasound?

Soo..I just scheduled my viability scan (1st ultrasound). I really want to see the heartbeat, and so I don’t want to go too early. But I’d also love to announce the pregnancy to my parents and my husband’s parents in person, and we’d like to see the heartbeat before we do that..that’s the tricky part.

My husband’s parents live far away and are visiting until April 27th. So ideally we’d have the scan before they leave so if everything’s alright we can tell them. My parents live a few hours away, but my dad has some health concerns and they cant travel often because of that, so having the scan earlier rather than later would be great (my mom already feels less involved with our first little one because of the travel restrictions and so I’d prefer to tell them first so that they feel a little special).

So what I’d like is: have scan (hopefully everything’s fine), invite my parents and tell them, then tell husband’s parents before April 27th.

When would you schedule your scan? I have a tentative appointment for the 24th (7 weeks). Is that too early?
