I'm on the nuvaring and we haven't been using condoms. I read somewhere that it's only 95% effective, and 85% if you mess it up in any way. I don't think I've messed it up besides a day or two. I would like to use condoms because I'm paranoid and do not want a baby right now.

If you're having sex with someone it shouldn't be a courage issue. If you're comfortable enough to get it on with them you should be comfortable enough discussing issues like this. What if you were to get pregnant? If you've never even discussed this with him what do you think would happen then??

I took my ring out during sex a no no but didn't get pregnant. I would buy condoms my dad did for me.

Say exactly that to him. If he's wanting to be intimate, he needs to be part of that decision. The potential baby would be 50% his, it's his responsibility too.

Don't take it out to have sex. Change it monthly and you'll be fine. I was on nuvaring for 7 years. My husband went in me for a long time and I never got pregnant!
