Early language development: did your child hit their milestones early or late and in which setting? (Daycare= 3+ days a week)

A couple of other moms and I got to talking about this and it seemed like there was a trend in which environment our kiddos were in and their language development. Interested to see if it’s across the board. For children in daycare, I mean enrolled for 3 or more days a week.

Both my daughters hit many of their milestones early and were talking early and they never went to daycare or preschool. Both started talking around 6 months. They were saying several words and phrases by 9 months old. Both knew all their colors by 12-18 months. My oldest is in first grade now and is an above average reader. Never went to preschool and her kindergarten teachers were surprised she didn’t go to school prior to kindergarten. I think a big part of it is the extra time I spent with my daughters and teaching them what they should know before entering school. Education starts at home.

My son stays at home and is delayed on his speech. He just turned 2 a week ago and only says 8-10 words. We noticed about 1 1/2 ago, after he came home from staying 2 nights with a family member who was also watching an almost 3 years old, he was talking. He then went back to not saying much. He's always around my husband and I and needs to be around more children.

My son’s in daycare full-time. He hit all his milestones at a very average age, like he read a textbook or something about when to do what. Except talking, he was an early talker and still talks very well for his age.

My daughter was at hone until 1 and didnt speak much and was late crawling and walking. Started daycare a few days acweek andcwalking turned into running,  but words didnt really increase. Changed daycares to more structured one and boom...so many words. I think you have to gind a good fit for each child. No one learns the same

My son hit the milestones early at home however when he started daycare at 18 months it progressed much more and he was able to learn English and Spanish.. me nor his father speak Spanish but he is able to understand and respond to some things.

Two of my boys were early talkers at home. My third was a late talker due to apraxia of speech. He was also home.

SAHM and my daughter hit all her physical milestones early, sat just before 5mo, walked at 9mo and started jumping just after turning 1. I thought she was mostly on par with average development for speech, but once she turned 2 it shot out of the park and she talks about a year ahead, I never really noticed until other parents started commenting on how my 2 year old spoke better than their 3 year old. 
But I don’t attribute to her staying home with me meeting her milestones early. I like to think I have a hand in fostering her development, she’s very curious and aware of her surroundings so I do my best to fulfill that, but her father is extremely bright so I think it’s mostly genetics.

I honestly don't think that environment plays a part in milestones. I've worked 5 years in day care as well as a stay at home mom for 7 years. I've taught some really advanced children in the same class as some children who struggled to meet the milestones for that age. Also i have a set of twins. They are in the same exact environment all the time. One is more advanced than the other in alot of things but its almost like they switch rolls on other things. The one started talking first and has a better vocabulary but the other one learned his colors first. Every kid is different and learns differently.

In my case: my daughter is home with me and has taken her time to meet most milestones (crawling, walking, speech, even when she wanted to finally start eating solids, and how long it took for her teeth to come in, etc).
