Baby bunnies

Ja

pregnancy has me a wreck after the night/morning I have had. I got home from work last night to find my cat attacking a baby bunny. Less than 10 days old cuz it’s eyes were closed and ears down.

I took the bunny away from my cat and put my cat inside. I didn’t wanna handle it too much for fear of stressing it out and giving it a heart attack. So my grandma helped me out and brought me a shoebox from our back porch and I put the little bun in there. It had a little puncture wound by its front paw so I was worried and called an exotic animal hospital. They told me to put a cloth in the box for him to lay on and a heating pad underneath half of the box, so he could stay warm but move to the cool side if needed.

This was around 8pm last night and the bun stayed in my room in the box with the heating pad all night till I woke up this morning at 8am, to take him to the nearest wildlife center that opened at 8. My cat got out when my sister was brought over this morning so she was outside when I went to leave. However. She was out there with a SECOND bun in her mouth 😭 she brought it up to me on the porch and dropped it so I scooped it up quick and put it with its sibling.

My heart hurts for the mama bun I could not imagine losing one bun let alone two. There’s fur all over the yard from the nest but I still can’t find the nest to see if there’s more babies.

I took them both to the wildlife center and they said they looked good but bringing them there was the right thing. Biggest issue would be that their bellies could bloat when fed by humans. Hopefully they pull through and can be released back.

I’m 21 weeks pregnant and have been crying bout this all morning I had to share the story 😫
