Nervous about having a specific gender?

I will be so happy and grateful for whatever this sweet baby is. I want healthy. However, my mom and I never clicked well and even now as an adult we don’t have a good relationship. I am so scared if it’s a girl I’ll have some type of feelings or nervous about it ending up the same way. I’m scared I won’t bond with her much in case we don’t click either. I hope I’m wrong but is anyone else feeling anything similar?

Same. I’ve always been a daddy’s girl and hoping for a boy so I can honor my father’s name. I would love a little girl too but I’m so scared because I just really don’t like my mom 😩 I love her, of course but the anxiety and stress I have over our relationship in my lifetime is ridiculous. I even had a bad dream last night about her and it put me in a mood all day 😒 serious mommy issues here!

So my husband and I experienced some major gender disappointment at first, my husband was terrified of having a boy. Because growing up him and his father had a very poor relationship, honestly it was nonexistent until I came around and broke the ice between them. It was a very uncomfortable household for my husband to grow up in, since he had no relationship with his father. And because he had no father to show him how to have a father-son relationship he was terrified he would be the same. 
My husband’s sister, on the other hand, has a fantastic relationship with their father. So my husband, growing up, felt like he was on the outside looking in. But at least he saw how a father-daughter relationship worked. He wanted that. 
It took him about 2 weeks to come back around after finding out that our baby is going to be a boy. But now he’s excited, and he says he has no real idea what he’s going to do, but he’s going to do his best to be a better father to his son. Now I can’t get him to stop swooning over this pregnancy and the fact he’s having a boy. His dad is even excited, too (husband thinks it’s because his father feels like this is a chance at a “do-over”, to have a relationship with a little boy, since his son and him now have a real relationship after not having one for 27 years....)

I'm feeling the same way I even have weird feelings about calling her "my baby" cause that's what my mom called me lol I feel like not being close to either of my parents (mostly my mom) I won't have a good connection like I know my boyfriend will which will make me feel jealous buuut now is our chance to change things and start that bond with our babies

For myself, I am wanting a girl sooo bad so that my daughter can have a sister. Growing up with sisters makes you realize how special it is. I do worry she will be more connected with dad later on as me and my dad have an incredible bond and my love for him is like none other. But my mom is one of my best friends and shes like "one of the girls." So hoping I can have that same relationship with DD.

I feel the same way about my mom, and hope it doesn’t happen with my daughter. But I’m sure it won’t, I’m a very different person than my mom.

This is normal for some women. The fact you're questioning whether you will be like you mom or not probably means you won't be because you know what you didn't like about her growing up, so you know not to do it. 👍
