is my son under weight ?

i feel like my son is under weight compared to other babies & my mil keeps saying he's to small which irritates me a lot bcuz she compares him to her other grandson whos 8 months & 28-30 pounds, my baby is 5 months 16lb he eats well always playing & very happy so i don't feel i need to be concerned about his weight ☹️ do i?
-we are both pretty tall he's 6'2 215lb i'm 5'9 170lb , i did have something called Low Pap A and the doctor did advise me my son would come out alittle small he i was 40 weeks on the dot & he weighed 6lbs.

Your some is in the normal range for his age. Her other grandson is well ABOVE the normal range. There’s nothing you need to worry about. Your MIL needs to mind her own business

Tell her to stop comparing babies! So first, my 2.5 year old is only 32 pounds. So there's that. Second, my 6 month old is 16.8 pounds. Your child is just fine.

My little guy is 26 months and only 22/23 lbs. He was only 17 at 1. The doctors arent concerned about his weight because he is growing on his own curve (at the bottom of the charts). Hes just a little peanut

I can feel your frustration my MIL LOVES to compare my daughters to her grandson 🙄🙄. But your baby’s weight is okay! Don’t let it bother you. The doctor even said he would be on the small side, so I wouldn’t worry honestly as long as he’s healthy than so what. My 1st daughter was tiny born and her first year she gained very little weight but she was healthy and hitting all her milestones on time. She’s 5 1/2 now and she’s an average weight now. And going through this again with my last daughter she’s 4 months and she’s 14lbs. She’s also a little on the small side but she’s healthy and sitting up, rolling over and everything. She’s also always eating. Every baby is different. People need to stop comparing and contrasting. As long as the baby is gaining weight regardless of how little it is, and hitting milestones and healthy, it doesn’t matter.

I think a (maybe uneducated though) rule of thumb is if your baby doubles birth weight by 6 months... so I’d say if he was born at 6lbs and is 16lbs at 5 months he is healthy.

My son was 16 lbs at 7 months. He was 6 lbs born at 37 weeks. Drs aren't concerned with his weight at all. He's just on the smaller side

My daughter is 2 and only weighs 23 lbs, and is totally fine  Some kids are just naturally smaller.
