Epidural or no epidural, will/have you had one? what are your thoughts?

This is my 5th pregnancy. I've never had one and hopefully won't need one this time

I had one with my first, and it was amazing. After several hours of pitocin and no progress it allowed me to progress quickly and feel nothing at all. I didn't have any trouble pushing or any lasting side effects. However, I'll be trying again to go unmedicated this time. It will depend on how my labor progresses, but I'd rather be able to move around and be able to feel the process if I don't have to have pitocin this time, or if I can get past 3 cm.

I had one with my first and it did very little but leave me stuck in the bed with a catheter that bothered me the whole time. I'm going to try to go without this time. If it had worked I would definitely do it again though lol

I had an epidural & it was amazing :) i labored 34 hours and more than painful, I was exhausted! It was immediate relief, I didn't even feel a sting basically & I didn't suffer any backache due to it after :) I received the epidural at around approx. 28 hours into my labor, so it was the most wonderful thing lol

I did. At my local hospital epi's weren't available so I went into labour thinking of manage without. I had problems and got rushed to the city hospital. I didn't think twice about it. It took three attempts to put it which was hell when I was having back contractions but I'm so glad I had it

Had one. It was relaxing lol. I ended up with a csection and it had started to wear off during stitches though

This time I'm trying other methods before the epi

I want to try have my son with no drugs but it's my first so I'm not going to out right say no I won't use them because I don't know how well I'll handle the pain. So I'm hoping I won't use them but I'm keeping the option there

I personally don't want to, but I will if it becomes too much. There's benefits to both. If you don't, baby won't be as drowsy(though sometimes they aren't even with one) and if you do, you're a lot less likely to tear because you can take your time.

I'm going to try gas and air and then have an epidural only if I need it.
