How I boosted my supply in 1 week
I used to pump about 2ish oz per breast a session. It was enough to feed my newborn until he was apparently only halfway back to his birthweight by his 2 week appointment. I did not want to supplement with formula so I tried to up my supply for extra bottles between nursing.
I made some lactation cookies with brewers yeast, oats & flax (recipe on my instagram- I’m a food & pre/postnatal health blogger @bodycompassdiscovery) plus drank mother’s milk tea off and on throughout a week and stayed consistent with pumping between feedings.
Within a few days I was pumping close to 4oz per breast at a time off and on. He also gained almost 4 oz in 2 days so the pedi cleared him! Then he proceeded to go from 7lb 9.5oz to 8lb 1oz in 4 days so I felt good about his weight and quit giving the extra bottles. Now I pump to try to build up storage in freezer! I’m getting 5oz out of a breast usually and do about 2-3 pumping sessions daily along with breastfeeding normally.
Oh, and lots of skin to skin and hot shower massage too!
