Car seat straps?

So I was bought something like these for my baby shower and I’m thankful, I just have heard story after story about babies sliding out of their seat in the time of a car accident. So I am not sure if I will be using them for her. Am I over reacting? Or is this a reasonable concern?

The buckle in the photo is way too low its on her belly. If she was to get into a car accident with the buckle like it is she would die from internal bleeding and organ damage.

Depending where you are they probably aren't even legal.
Personally if it didn't come with the seat or from the manufacturer I wouldn't use it.
Car seat safety is so important and it's not something to take a chance with.
Also if you're somewhere that uses chest clips the straps would interfere with the positioning and make it very dangerous.

Any after market products automatically void the warranty of your seat. Just don’t do it. Also the car seat safety in that pic is just horrendous.

Anything made “after market” is not safe for car seats. My diono brand one came with strap covers so they’re safe. Those head supports are also a no-no.

As others have said, those push the chest plate way WAY too low and baby is not secure.  The chest plate should be at armpit level.
If something hasn’t been safety tested with the seat, I wouldn’t put it with the seat.

That’s extremely dangerous. If you were ever in a wreck with the chest clip that low, it would not keep your baby safe.

Even aside from the chest clip, anything aftermarket is not save to add to/on the car seat.
