Baby shower gifts?

So long story short hubby and I HATE receiving gifts. Not for the thought of people giving, and offering and being generous, just the anxiety of opening the gifts in front of people. Idk it’s hard to explain. I can’t stand my birthday for this reason. This is our first so we definitely want to have a baby shower, his sister is planning it, but we are nervous wrecks when it comes to the fact that there will be a circle formed around us while everyone observes us opening gifts.

I’m wondering if it would be okay to just have people bring the gifts, unwrapped the the shower and to us so we can tell them thank you and it be that simple. Does that sound bad?
