I've always busted open my tests unless they're digital. As long as its within the time frame, it's fine. The only reason people say not to is a lot of tests are set up that they aren't exposed to the air so it can cause an evap line before the time limit. I set the timer for 3 minutes and look, then set the timer for 3 more minutes and throw the test out after that time frame. Best of luck!!
