Has anyone who has been prescribed amitriptyline experienced extreme breakouts from it? I’ve been taking amitriptyline for a little over 3 weeks now and for about 2 weeks now i’ve been breaking out horribly, unlike i ever have before. i work out 3 times a week and shower right after i’m done, and otherwise shower every other day. i use black african soap, clean and clear face wash and clean and clear spot treatment for random little pimples i get on my face and the normal hormonal breakouts i get. i haven’t changed any of my products, makeup wise or skin care wise.. i haven’t changed my diet or skin washing routine, and i clean my makeup brushes and sponges regularly. the only thing i could think of that could be causing this breakout is stress other than the new med. this med change has been particularly hard on my stress and anxiety levels so i definitely understand that it could be just from stress.

if you think the acne itself looks like stress pimples or something linked to dairy or gluten or something like that lmk! i’m just super embarrassed by it and it’s starting to get nice out and i can’t wear any of my short sleeve or tank top styled shirts because of how bad the acne is!

if this is because of my meds then at my next appointment i definitely will be voicing that i don’t think this med is the right fit for me as far as side effects go.

also, please don’t say “it’s really not that bad, you’re overreacting”.. i know it might not be that bad to some people, and i understand that some people go through chronic cystic acne all the time, way worse than what i’m experiencing, and i feel really bad for those individuals, but to me this is still really bad and i’m super self conscious about it and could really just use positive feedback on either how to get rid of it or if anyone has experienced a similar breakout while taking amitriptyline! thanks so so much in advance!!
