What do they eat??

I feel like such a failure because I’m so scared of feeding my boy solids. He started having purées and oatmeal at 4 months because of health issues. Now at almost 8 months I still only feed him like REALLY puréed food and those puffs that melt in their mouth, I want to expand but it’s so scary.. Can you show me pictures of exactly what your LOs eat to ease my mind? He doesn’t have any teeth yet but it seems like he’s chewing well when he’s eating the puffs, still super scary though.

Here’s some pictures of my son and some things he eats. We completely skipped purées because he wants nothing to do with me feeding him, he’s been eating solids since 6 months and no issues

Following! my son is 8 months and I’m too afraid to even give him the puffs. He just shoves things in his mouth I’m afraid he won’t chew even though he has his bottom teeth😩 I just give him purees and food in his mesh feeder. I tried giving him a teething biscuit and he scared me to death he just wanted to take a huge bite out of it...this is my second baby and I don’t remember being so paranoid with my first.

We do Baby LED Weaning and it’s awesome! She has learned about her gag reflex and will just cough up anything she can’t get down. So I no longer worry about her choking but I’m always right there. With BLW she now eats whatever we eat and doesn’t eat purées anymore. I added a few pictures so you can see what she eats.

Chicken, green beans, potatoes, and strawberries.

Spaghetti which is her favorite and French fries.

Orange slices and waffles.

Chicken tacos, tomatoes, avocado.

She loves eggs.

Blueberries and raspberries.

Some of the things we started with were puffed wheat/buckwheat, potatoes mashed up but left a bit chunky, rotini pasta which I cut after each spiral, cubes no bigger than 1/4" of avocado/banana/any cooked veggie. I just made sure everything I cooked for her was VERY soft.

She pretty much eats anything we eat in tiny pieces. Cheese, fruit, veggies (cooked well to be easy enough to chew), pasta, bread (she LOVES peanut butter toast), crackers etc.. We keep a close eye but she is very good. I feel like the earlier they start with real foods the less likely something would happen because they have the experience.

Were super paranoid too. She gags, husband freaks out and refuses to let her have anything other that purées for a few days then I try again. I try to remember and reassure him as well that gagging is normal, but it’s still scary!!  We just do any and all purées, except she does like the gerber mix-in ones. She’s also had pancake, avocado, mashed potato, cheese quesadilla, peanut butter toast, tomato, pasta, broccoli and smoked sausage. We try to just give her a few bites of whatever we are having and she really only does a few bites then loses interest. She smashes on puffs, yogurt melts and crunchies though. She always has her bottle first so we know she’s getting the nutrition she needs and just keep plugging away with foods. She’s getting better and better with her pincher grasp and really chews now as well so we’re hoping we get more comfortable so she keeps learning.

I’m also terrified! I’ve tried the puff things and she chokes on those! I tried a very soft sweet potato in small pieces and she had no idea what to do.

My little guy gas always done solids since 6 months. He will eat anything. Its the best!
