Fingertip dilated - how long until you went into labor ?

I was a fingertip dilated for a month and 50% effaced. Dr went ahead and induced me since I wasn't progressing anymore.

I went from a fingertip at my 36 week appt to having her at exactly 38 weeks. I progressed really quick once in labor, went from 4cm when I was admitted to 9 cm in 2 hours.

I was a fingertip dilated at my prior Friday appt, then a week later at my next Friday appt I was 1-2cm. The next night, Saturday, I was 9cm. It can happen quickly!

Stupid question possibly. What exactly is a fingertip. They say one cheerio is 1 CM so is a fingertip a CM or no. So confused.
