What are the benefits ? Will you do it?

It’s part of my birth plan and during our hospital tour we found out it’s part of the hospitals delivery policy now. They delay for 1 minute, they said they believe it’s very beneficial.

All the OBs at our hospital do it automatically.

I did. It gives more blood to baby, which they need as much as they can before they’re born.

I was a little bummed when I found out that they can only do it for a minute since I will be having a csection. I was hoping for at least 2-3 minute.

The hospital I'm delivering at does it automatically unless there's an emergency situation. It's extremely beneficial to baby since during the birthing process a lot of the baby's blood is in the placenta and cord. Allowing the cord to stop pulsing before cutting allows all the blood to go back into baby.

My hospital always does it unless theres a medical emergency. It let's the baby soak up the blood and nutrients in the placenta. 1/3 of their blood is in the placenta and cord. It prevents iron deficiency and jaundice if you delay cord cutting.

It’s the normal procedure at my birth center unless they can’t for some reason.

I plan on delaying until the cord stops pulsing.
