So ovi im going ti be a first time mom,  so how can you tell youre having a contraction? 
I was told it feels like period pain but worse, and if thats the case might as well start digging my own grave cause my periods are unbearable to the point i cant move or eat anything for the first 2 or 3 days

Even though it’s like period pain so to speak it comes and goes aka contractions so the pain flies away for short periods in between which is what makes it bearable lol it’s a unique pain in to itself really and when you feel them it’s almost a good thing because you know it’s getting closer I don’t know I’ve had three natural births no pain meds etc and this one will

Period like pain at the start but real, strong contractions are pretty hard to miss. Period like cramps times 20

It's hard to say. It feels so different for everyone, so it's pretty hard to describe. I think period pain but worse is just the easiest way to describe it so that everyone can understand it.
It is a period kinda pain, but it's different.
They usually say you're not in doubt and I kinda agree. Unfortunately I had so much gas pain and diarrhea at the same time that it took me all morning to realize that a lot was contractions and they were pretty close.
