When other people say “my baby”

Question

Am I just being hormonal or does anyone else get a little heated / upset when other people refer to your baby as theirs?  
For instance, I’ve hear my MIL refer to my baby as “her baby” multiple times and a close friend did it too. And I just want to scream that it’s not “their baby”. 
I know what they probably mean but it drives me nuts 🙈

Our family is pretty close, so I take it as a sign of love and support. They’re just trying to be there for you and baby. 🥰

Oh good, my husband and I aren’t the only ones. My mom was doing this. We had words. I feel very possessive, maybe partly because of how difficult it was to actually conceive in the first place. I get she’s excited, but still not her baby.

My SIL is always saying we are going to coparent bc she really just wanted a girl... but got a boy! 
Now how do you think that makes her husband feel or her little boy when he gets older? Some people just don’t get it.

Lol don’t even worry about it, people say that to me too and it annoys me but I ignore them. This ain’t they’re baby 🤷🏿‍♀️.

That would drive me a bit nuts. I'd do my best to assume positive intent and hope she is just trying to connect to the baby and you all (and doesn't understand how it sounds or how you feel about it). 
The only person (beside my husband) that I like calling the baby theirs is our 3yr old son. When he does it, he melts my heart. :)

My mother lives 5 hours away form me and the first time she saw me in a while she wouldn't stop touching my belly and saying "my baby!" It really bothered me, but I have trouble speaking up for myself especially since she tends to get   easily upset. Thank God for my Aunt though, she could tell it was bothering me and told my Mom thats your grandbaby and I'd be uncomfortable with someone touching me so much. My Mom stopped after she said that! 😊 You could tell she was a litte upset, but oh well!

My neighbor who is 77 tells everyone ‘We are gonna have a little  girl’. He’s a man and it just creeps me out.

My MIL says that, and I didn’t say anything about it, but when she said it to my husband, he was like, that’s kind of weird, right...? 
But she lost a baby girl at 3 years old... I wouldn’t blame her if she wants to live vicariously through us having a girl.

It annoys me but that’s because I suffered a previous loss and went through a bad period of depression and this pregnancy surprised me....
