My birth story đź’™

Jade

I posted just the other day about not Having any luck after my 3rd sweep with the midwife.

Well it turns out baby was just keeping me on my toes. 3am that following morning I woke up to the most horrendous period cramps. They got stronger and stronger untill around 4.30 I had to wake up OH to tell him his not going to work and I think we’re having a baby today!

Around 12 hours later at 16.00 we headed to the hospital with contractions coming thick and fast at around 3-5 minutes. I got a cervical check and was only dilated to a 2. I had a breakdown in the hospital and just could not control myself. I was sent home with codeine and paracetamol.

Fast forward to around 10pm I was climbing the walls and all of a sudden having contractions almost every minute there just seemed to be no rest from these at all. I went in and got checked at triage. Yep. I was still at 2cm. I was so disheartened. Until the midwife accidentally broke my waters checking my cervix. Oh boy did the contractions start coming in stronger at that point! I was begging for pain relief whilst screaming down the whole labour ward. I begged and begged them to take me to theatre as I felt that something wasn’t right and that I already needed to push. I was given gas and air and put into a different room. This point I was literally howling with every contraction coming in at every 45 seconds and felt the urge to push. I was told by the midwife I couldn’t push yet as I was not dilated enough.

10 minutes later the midwifery unit had a change over of staff. The new midwife checked me, I’d gone up to 10cm within the space of just 2 hours and they told me I was ready to push! - as I’d told them previously! I know my body damn!

Anyway. 4 or 5 pushes and baby’s head was out. His body came with the following push. 7 minutes of pushing on total and my whole life changed forever.
