Have you removed a popcorn ceiling?

We removed it but used the dampen method to be safe. Also the proper masks, etc. If you dampen the popcorn it keeps it from becoming dust and into your lungs.

Just an FYI popcorn ceiling is an acoustic barrier. It dampens sound in your home. Removing it will likely make your home sound “louder” as the barrier is removed. 
We have a friend remove theirs and regret it because every sound reverberates now. 
I think if you remove it be prepared to have the ceiling professionally refinished smooth or a knockdown type material. The drywall underneath is unfinished and probably in rough shape since it was never intended to be smooth. We have had rooms done in our home and I definitely prefer the look of knockdown over a smooth ceiling.

My parents house was built in 1994 and I remember my mom having us scrape the ceiling as kids. I hated it because it kept falling into my eyes

We did remove some but my grandfather had put it up so we knew it was asbestos free.

My husband scraped it so it’s flat then painted it. Our house was built in 1980 we didn’t check for asbestos

If your house was built between the late 60s to -early 90s  get it tested . It wasn’t used after that

Never had it and would never move into a place that had it. Popcorn ceilings are so UGLY.

In Washington state you have to get it tested before you are allowed to bring it to the dump. Might as well do it before hand, big thing is keeping it wet if there is asbestos.
