If you had a baby around 35-36 weeks did he/she have to stay in the NICU?

I just have this crazy feeling shes going to come early. I've been having contractions all day there just not close enough together to get checked in. I'm just trying to prepare myself for the possibilities.  My OBs nurse told me not to come in until there at least 5 minutes apart. Right now there 15 minutes apart and very uncomfortable almost on the painful side. I thought that was weird since I'm only 35 weeks.

It will really depend on the baby. Some won’t need any help at all, others may need a lot.

35+1, NICU stay for almost 2 weeks. Personally, I would go in immediately; you are preterm and they take it seriously.

Yes.  My daughter was born at 35+5 and had a 4 day nicu stay and was only allowed to come home if I promised to keep her on the bili lights at least 20 hours a day.  Otherwise they would have kept her another 3 days minimum.
