My boy twins are here... super early!!!

Pamela

So Saturday 20th April I was at home talking to my partner who was not long home from work and we were laughing about my hair which I had tried to do myself, well it ended up blue!!!! I said to him I need it fixed but will leave it a few days. Anyway, about 21:00 and my water broke!!!!!! I thought no way, I’m only 32 weeks!!!!! Anyway, it wasn’t a gush of water, just a steady trickle. I suddenly thought, no if the babies are coming I can’t be looking like this! So we phoned the hospital who said not to panic and rush but to head over there at some point. So I decided I need to fix my hair. I put the hair colour in and rang my mum! Got it sorted anyway and went into the hospital where they did all of their usual checks. I was then sent to the ward. They were starting me on antibiotics and was going to be on bed rest until the boys arrived (I wasn’t in labour). Anyway, the next morning arrives and the doctor decided to do an internal exam. She said that my pelvis was empty. No baby there. She wanted to do a scan to see how twin 1 was lying as she worried if he was transverse, the cord could move into my pelvis and that would be bad. So she cane back, did the scan and said that yes he is transverse and the babies were coming today via emergency c section. I couldn’t believe it! So exciting and terrifying all at the same time!!! I went for the c section at 15;00 on Sunday 21st April (the day before my birthday) and Elliott James McGlinchey was born at 15:44 weighting 4lb 5oz, and his brother followed closely behind at 15:47 weighing 4lb 1oz. Both are in intensive care. Elliott is doing very well whereas Lucas needs a little more help adjusting to life on the outside and is needed some oxygen. Both are amazing, I am one proud momma. And the best birthday presents I could have ever hoped for!!!
