Self-weaning?!

YALL, what does it mean when your baby keeps pulling away from the breast. She’s been doing it all day today which she never does 🤔🤔

The first time my son did that it was around 3-4 months. I thought he didn’t want my milk anymore and it was heartbreaking 😭 turns out that’s when he was able to now let me know he wasn’t hungry! Could that possibly be it?

At three months it’s not self weaning. There can be a lot of reasons baby will pull off. Many of them don’t mean she’s not hungry. My son got frustrated around that age with the milk not coming fast enough and he would fuss and cry. Keep at it and it will pass in a few days or weeks.

My son is 3 months. He’s done this before for various reasons. He had rsv and was stuffy and would pull away because he couldn’t breathe. He does it sometimes when he’s not really hungry or when he’s gassy and agitated. Or sometimes he’s hungry and isn’t getting the milk fast enough. Like when he cluster feeds after not cluster feeding for a while, and my boobs need a day to adjust, he won’t get any milk immediately, it takes a few mins so he pulls off in frustration.
