In law’s nursery

Is it strange that my mother in law is making her own nursery in her house for our baby? This is their first grandchild and understand that they’re excited, but we never really spend time together. We don’t ever really visit each other’s house unless it’s for family dinner which is once a month. We all get along but I’m still not that comfortable being around them if my husband isn’t around, so I just find it weird that she wants to have a nursery in her house when we don’t spend time together at all... is this weird or am i just being rude...?
