How old should my baby be before bringing him to the beach?

I’m really dying to get away and go to the beach but my little guy is only 3 weeks old and I feel like that’s too young. Obviously he will be in the shade the whole time but what is a good age to bring him?

My daughter will be 3 months when we go on vacation. She’s been in the sun before and was fine lol I just put long sleeves & pants & a big sun hat on her. Remember that before 6 months you absolutely can’t use sunscreen on a baby! It can give them chemical burns.

Babies can’t do sunscreen till 6 months so till then buy a pop up shade hut for the baby ! I took my baby at 6 months to beach for over 12hrs! Things that saved my life at beach was pop up shade tent... battery powered fan ( lots of batteries), used their bathing tub to keep them cool ( like mini pool). If you breastfeed do it every hour to keep them hydrated and sitting in ac  car also helps! No real ocean swimming!

We took our 3 month old on holiday to meet his grandparents in Mauritius. It was extremely hot but we covered him in sunscreen (Child’s Farm does a sunscreen for baby’s younger than six months), had a full swimsuit and hat and he swam with us for a few minutes every day. We also have him water (I know it’s not recommended before a certain age but it was 38 degrees Celsius). We just made sure that we were away from the water as much as possible (you can burn from the reflection) most of the time and in full shade. We would also go back to our room in the afternoons to let him sleep in the cool aircon and when we were out we used a diaper bag that folds out into a “cot”. I also bought a shade cloth for his pram and had very thin large Muslin cloths which sometimes doubled as shade. Check your pram canopies UV protection, you can buy an umbrella and shade cloth and I wouldn’t recommend more than an hour or two at a time. Best time to go is early morning or late afternoon.

Well I live 2 mins from the beach and practically live there so my daughter was about 3-4 weeks when I brought her the first time. She slept the whole time in the stroller so it didn’t even matter..
