Home birth
April 15 around 5 am I noticed my hips starting to ache. No contractions or any other signs of labor at this point. Around 1pm my 1 year old and I took a nap. We woke around 2:30 PM, I went to use the bathroom and noticed my bloody show. I contacted my mother in law (she was going to watch my daughter while I'm in labor) and asked her to pick up Olivia around 4pm. My husband came home from work around 4:30. At this point im having light contractions about every 20 minutes. We eat dinner and relax watching some TV until about 9pm. I tell him we should try to sleep while we can just in case we end up having an all nighter. We decided to just sleep on the couch. At about 10pm I'm having contractions every 7-12 minutes and I can still breathe through them. At around midnight I become more vocal and decide to call the midwives to start heading over. I wake my husband and he is holding my hand while I have some more intense contractions. At about 12:30 my water breaks, so I head to the bathroom to try to pee. A few minutes later my midwives arrive and check vitals. Everything is perfect and we continue working through contractions. My husband starts setting up the pool in our bedroom. Around 1:50am on the 16th I start to push. I do my best to take my time pushing her head out and allowing for the tissue to stretch. Once her head was out the midwives noticed her hand was out too. They had me switch positions and were able to gently sweep her shoulder while I pushed. Since it took a few minutes to get her out (and the position of her arms) her chest had too much pressure so she wasnt able to breathe for a few seconds. The midwives gave her some breaths and she was able to breath on her own again without problem. My baby girl was born at 2:17am. 2 hours of hard labor and 18 minutes of pushing.
I'm so glad to have had another wonderful birth experience. No tearing and a perfectly healthy little girl. Welcome to the world Peyton Elaine <3
