How old until they need a convertible carseat?

I know it goes off of height and weight but at how old did you have to convert your babies into a convertible carseat?

We moved our daughter at 4 months when she exceeded the height limit on her seat.

My boy didn’t reach the limit until around 9 months old, but he was getting too heavy to carry so we switched him at 6 months

In my car my baby was in a convertible from birth. In my husband’s car we switched at 7 months.

I used my Chicco KeyFit 30 Infant seat until my child was 1 then we switched to convertible

Definitely agree that it depends on the kiddo! We switched when it got warmer at like 8-9 months... He was well over 20 lbs at that point. We have family with a petite kiddo that wasn't 20 lbs until over a year and she liked her seat, so they kept her in it. As a parent you just do what works for you ❤️

I know someone who switched around 5 months and someone who was still using infant when baby was over a year. There is a huge range.

We moved my first around 10 months and my second between 5-6 months. 
Our infant seat is good until 35lbs or 32” but once they hit about 20lbs/27” they seemed not as comfortable in the infant seat plus the convenience of carrying them around wasn’t so convenient at 20lbs + the car seat. My first was a little below average size for his age so he lasted longer, while my second is 90+ percentile for height and weight and hit 20lbs much earlier.

My son has always been on the tall side. So we switched at 6 months. All depends on what works for you and baby

When ever you want to. Theres no set age because kids can vary by weight a lot so it has nothing to do with age. 
I personally did it around 10m with both of my kids and will probably do the same with my 3rd

Some have them in them as new borns, some babies stay in them until 10 or 11 months. Just depends on what works for you and your family. And what baby likes!
