HSG????

Hey ladies, I just scheduled my HSG with my fertility doctor and I am freaking out and they refuse to prescribe me anything. Usually when I have my surgeries I start freaking out and beg to go home (i know i’m a wuss lol) but they usually give me something to relax because I’m naturally an anxious person. This is my second time having to schedule this test because last time I backed out. I’m hoping the endometriosis pain that I experience is worse than the HSG pain but everyone is different. How was your experience getting an HSG?? I know us Glow ladies have been through A LOT so hearing your stories may help encourage me 💕

Mine was incredibly painful. One of my tubes ended up being blocked so the amount of dye and pressure they used to blow it out...oh...I can’t even describe the pain. I almost threw up, I broke out into a sweat. My nurse was awesome though...gave me a cold compress and just walked me through it. I had it yesterday and I’m back to normal today. Honestly, I’m so glad there was something wrong...I wanted there to be an obvious reason why I wasn’t able to get pregnant. That very well could have been it.

I just had a HSG done this morning and it really wasn't bad at all! It felt more awkward than anything. I could feel the dye moving through my tubes, it was mild cramping that was slightly uncomfortable. I didn't take any meds before or after, though they recommended motrin 30 mins before the procedure. 
The entire thing was done from start to finish in about 5 minutes. I hope yours goes well!!

I jus had one done this morning, and it was extremely painful for me. I didn’t have any blockages but the contrast burned and I could feel it run through. The radiologist had a difficult time actually finding my cervix so with him moving the speculum around so much, I was already pretty sure by the time the catheter was inserted. Then because of the angle of my cervix, the catheter kept coming out so he inserted it probably 4 times. I have been home for about an hour and I have pretty bad cramping and spotting. Definitely recommend taking some ibuprofen beforehand and maybe some after.

Hi! So I just has an HSG and Hysteroscopy done back to back this morning. No pain meds prescribed and no numbing/anesthesia. I was freaking out because of all the horror stories on Glow and on google, but it was all for nothing! I felt VERY mild cramps and my doctor and I chatted away throughout the HSG and before I knew it, it was over!
I have endometriosis and have the WORST period cramps - the kind where you have to get in the fetal position and skip work on your worst days. The cramps you feel during the HSG are nothing like endometriosis cramps! Night and day difference. 
I do suggest taking 800mg of Advil. I took it a little over an hour before my procedures and then took one more 200mg tablet right before the procedure for good measure, ha! Worked like a charm and both tests went flawlessly (I was in and out in 30 minutes).
I didn’t have blocked tubes, but I have heard that having your fertility doctor do the test helps SO MUCH. Most OBs don’t do the tests themselves and will refer out to radiologists who just aren’t experienced, which can cause pain. If you are scheduled with a fertility doctor who do these things day in and day out, you will be fine!

I guess everyone’s body is different I had one back in February and it hurt so bad for about 4 days .. I was so sore and my tubes were wide open and beautiful but it’s totally worth it 🥰

So glad i read this right before going to my hsg appointment.  This eased my mind. I had a bit of a panic attack while sitting on the table before the procedure. But as it started, i couldnt feel a thing. Only slightly cramping while the dye was injected

I have mine scheduled for Wednesday and I have no idea what to expect. I’m just hoping it shows there is no issue.

I had mine done for the 1st time 3 weeks ago on the 10th day from start date of my period and it was more uncomfortable then I expected. I did experience some pain for that brief minute or so but thankfully the procedure was quite fast. I bled immediately after and suffered cramping for about 2 days but nothing too major. 
I’ve heard that it’s easier to conceive after getting a HSG so my fingers are crossed :) I am due for my period today and I’m always on time so hoping it’s not psychological and that there’s good news soon! 
For all the ladies who are about experience HSG do pop a painkiller before and do remember to bring along a sanitary pad for use after! Good luck everyone ❤️
