I really can't believe how well everything went. I'm a first time time mom and I went 40weeks and 1 day. I got checked at my 40week appointment (4/29/19) and I was surprised that I was dialted 2cm! I had stayed very active during my pregnancy. Even doing yard work (laying out bark and pulling weeds) on my due date.

My water broke naturally around 2am the morning of the 30th. I actually ignored the wetness I felt because I was so tired. There was no pop or noticable gush of fluid. I rolled over and noticed my pad was soaked and it was on the sheets. I got out of bed to go pee & realized it was super soaked down there. I couldn't believe my water actually broke! (I know that's rare)

I started my contraction timer and they were a little over 10min apart. I contacted my midwife & she said to wait until they were 5 min apart before I headed into L&D. So about 6 hrs later, after my husband I got ready, packed, ate breakfast, cleaned the sheets, I bounced on my ball, contractions were finally 5-8min apart. We decided to head into triage where they tested to see if my water had actually broke. So at 8am they checked/tested me and I was still dialated to 2cm & my water HAD broke! They checked us in at 10am & started me on pitocin to get things moving since my water had broke so long ago. I started feeling stronger contractions. Iabored like that until 2pm then they were getting really strong. I asked for my midwife and she came in to check me. I was at 4cm! From there they took me off the pitocin and I just steadily labored and progressed. By 6pm I was dialted to 9.5cm and I was feeling the urge to push baby down. I ended up pushing for an hour when our baby boy finally made his way into this world at 7:18pm! 8lbs 6oz, 21inches long.

I ended up doing it all without an epidural! (Even though I asked for it 3 times. My husband & midwife knew I wanted to do it without) They were so great and just kept encouraging me that I was really doing great & progressing so well. I'm glad I ended up doing it without, but next time wouldn't mind getting the epidural. That "ring of fire" is so real!

Our baby boy Cooper is a week old now and we are so in love!!😍🥰
