Faster Than The Speed Of Light

Now that I have had time to process what happened, I can finally share the story of my 2nd birth. 05/08/2019 Edrian made his arrival at 3:23am. I had a few false alarms earlier in the week but remained 2cm each time I was checked. 05/07/19 I go into L&D with what I think is finally delivery time. I was only 3cm, so home we went.

The contractions subsided and I figured it really was yet another false alarm and decided to sleep. At 1:15am I woke up to go to the bathroom with no pain at all. As soon as I sat down on the toilet I felt like I had to push and I knew it was time.

My fiancé and I arrived with our 18 month old at the hospital at 2:00am. They checked me and I was 6cm and his head was very low. They asked if I wanted the epidural and I was moved to a delivery room.

I was shaking in pain, I had no break between contractions, I knew I needed to push, but I was stopping myself because I didn’t think I could. Then they lost the heartbeat...

Suddenly 6 nurses were surrounding me, but I was in so much pain I was almost delirious. The midwife came in to check me and all I heard was “Okay we’re gonna have you push ok?” I was so relieved that I could finally do what I was stopping myself from doing.

I gave 2 big pushes and instantly my pain was gone. My little man had arrived... No time for pain medication, my family barely made it in time, and my baby was purple, not breathing. It turns out he came out of the birth canal so quickly he had what they called a “stunned birth” he didn’t even know what had happened to him yet, but after some probing he was a perfectly happy and healthy 7lb 2.2 oz and 20.5in baby. ♥️

They say your second labor goes faster, but I really didn’t think it would be that fast...
