Yoga causing miscarriage?

I saw someone post that yoga can potentially cause a miscarriage. Not sure if I buy into that. Anyone have any insight on this?

Why would yoga cause miscarriage anymore than walking or any other physical activity you’re used to doing (which they don’t by the way)? People like to spread a whole lot of bull crap around.

id say it’s very unlikely that yoga was the cause. maybe the risk of falling out of a certain position or twisting/moving in a certain way?? but ive heard of many women doing yoga during pregnancy and it being really beneficial. as long as youre taking it easy i couldn’t imagine it being the cause

No. But I’ve seen a post on here someone said “it happened to their friend”.  If they wanted a reason to blame the miscarriage on then sure, but yoga isn’t going to cause a miscarriage. Most people’s daily activity and exercise levels are more intense than yoga and safe, so I don’t see any scientific evidence linked to yoga causing a miscarriage (also I assume we’re talking about early pregnancy stage)

Usually no.  There are some women who are really susceptible to miscarriage and have to be very careful with (any) physical activity, but that is fairly rare.
I think a lot of times people want to know what caused it so they can avoid it in the future.  If they did yoga and then miscarried a short time later, they may assume a relationship exists when it was actually unrelated.
