Failed membrane sweep?

Yesterday at my appointment my doctor casually brought up doing a sweep but wasn’t sure it would do anything. So I got it done, I’m 39 weeks and ready to have this baby. All i’ve had is some cramping that’s it. No bleeding  or contractions! Does that mean it’s not gonna be successful?

My first pregnancy I had one done at 39 weeks and nothing happened. I was eventually induced at 42 weeks

I read the most recent scientific study said a sweep shortens your pregnancy by an average of 4 days! It doesn’t mean you go into labor immediately but if you were going to spontaneously go into labor 40 + 4 , you’ll go 40. Good luck!!! Hope it helps you!

With my first I got it done on a Monday, Tuesday I had very light contractions inconsistently, Wednesday my contractions picked up and late that night my water broke, baby was born Thursday morning. I was 39 weeks at the time.

Probably. I had 3 failed membrane sweeps. They don't work unless your body is ready, if they do work it just means your body needed a little extra push and that was it.

Worked for me 2 times ... but not this time 😞... I am dilated to 4 cm had it done 8 am Tuesday ... still pregnant... def suck . Being induced next Tuesday .
I have been having contractions on and off not super painful but my labors aren’t painful until i am about 7 cm but I am not hopeful since my contractions only last and hour or 2 at a time .

With my first I had it done on a Wednesday and gave birth Friday.  It only works if you're body is ready and can take a few days.

I’ve had two done; 38 weeks and 5 days and 39 weeks and 5 days... and I have an induction scheduled for this Monday. They didn’t work for me 😔

From what I’ve read, it just increases your chances of going into labor, especially in the first like 48 hours after. It’s also found to be more effective if you’re already thinned and dilated some though, so at 39 weeks it’s hard to say.

50/50 chances never worked for me but many say it has 🤷🏽‍♀️
