Excessive bleeding with IUD
Ok so I had been using Mirena IUDs since 2005 but after losing a significant amount of weight and hitting my mid 30s, my body just wasn’t tolerating the hormones very well anymore. So I decided to switch to the ParaGard this past April. I had it put in April 3, my next period was due 6 days after that but never came. I figured it was just my body crashing off the hormones, as all pregnancy tests were negative. The period I just started 2 days ago is almost a full week early, but again I know there needs to be an adjustment period. My normal periods are very light, I usually don’t even need a tampon, and only last 2-3 days max. I’m currently on day #4 and it literally looks like someone is being gutted in my toilet every time I sit down. I expected my periods to get longer and heavier with the ParaGard, but I swear to christ I’m going to need a blood transfusion if this keeps up, I’m literally bleeding through 2 tampons In well under the 8 hours you’re supposed to be able to wear one. I was out walking my dogs earlier and felt wet, but I had just put my tampon in 3 hours before so I didn’t think it was that. Got home to check and my underwear is stained with blood. So I pulled the tampon out, it’s completely soaked through (the string as well), and put another one in. I’m not having any cramps or pain or dizziness or anything else, just this unbelievable tidal wave of a flow. Is it really supposed to be THIS heavy??
