Joining the Military

How can I get my mom to calm down about my decision to work with a recruiter to start my enlistment process into the Air Force? She’s absolutely livid and says that I’m basically signing up to die and that I’m taking away her happiness.... is this just one of those things that I’m going to have to wait out, or is there anything more I can say to get her to calm down and understand that I am 22 years old, have put tons of thought and consideration into this decision, and that ultimately it’s my life/future and I’m capable of deciding things like this on my own....? I just want her to be proud of me, I don’t want her to feel like I’m going to literally sign my life away.

UPDATE: I went to MEPS today just to take the ASVAB, TAPAS, and CAT, and I scored a 91 on the asvab! I’m so excited xD
