soooo.. do i have to tell my doctor when i’m in labor?

or can i just go to the hospital and have whoever’s there help me? i REALLY hate my whole doctors office. i will NEVER go there for anything ever again once i’m done with this pregnancy. can i just go straight to the hospital and have them deliver my baby whenever it happens? i switched from a midwife to an OB, they’re at the same office though. thought that would help, but she’s really no more help than the midwife. which really sucks. she’s also pregnant too so i don’t even have her as on OB for my last 2 appointments, i have two additional different OB’s. yay 😒🙄 idk i just feel like i’d be a lot less stressed out if she just didn’t show her face. i’m already really frustrated with their whole office and i’m 35 weeks, in the middle of moving, packing and my husband deploys 5-6 days after my due date so as much as i’d love to find another OBGYN/doctors office in the first place, i’m an hour and a half away from my current one to begin with and it just doesn’t make anything easier for me. 
idk lol i just thought i’d ask!

You usually will just get whoever is working that day but you might your actual doctor if she is on call that day.

I work in a hospital and please don’t just show up. Call your office or on call doctor. Most women know to time contractions and your OB will drill it into your head on how far apart the contractions should be before you call. The reason you call is not to make sure you get your OB or to avoid that OB but it is for the hospital staff. Our labor and delivery floor is over ran with women showing up to be monitored because they think they’re in labor and they’re sent home 2 hours later. By law a nurse is required to check on you, they ask questions, the provide you with education etc. that takes away support from a woman actually in labor or in a csection. Then you’re discharged and they have to page housekeeping to come immediately to clean a room. L&D is an emergency room. That’s essentially how it needs to be treated. If it can wait to call your OB In the morning then it should wait. All of this also effects scheduled inductions and scheduled c-sections. If the staff isn’t there or the rooms are taken then they have to make 2 or 3 am phone calls and cancel or reschedule inductions and csections. It’s just courtesy. 
Obviously, if you trip and land on your stomach, water breaks, severe chest pains, bleeding, etc then go straight to the ED and they will get you up to L&D but I advise you call and inform them you’re on your way. It also helps make everything smooth for you and you’re taken straight to a room and not registration to verify they already have your info. But if you’re basing real labor off of just contractions I advise calling to make sure they think you need to come right then.

Just go to the hospital and whoever is there on call will deliver baby. I was induced I had two OBs handling my labor and the one who delivered my son I have no idea who he was I just know he wasn’t an OB in my office just happened to be the OB in call

When i went into labor , i went straight to L&D. I Got there & got asked who was my ob & what clinic was i being seeing at. I told them all my info & my ob didn't deliver my baby. Someone else did lol.
